Club Competition 11th July 2010.
On Sunday morning the competitors gathered for this years Stewartby Waterski Club Competition.
The morning started off very windy with not much sun, we started as usual with the slalom competition. The water was rough & the wind blowing hard, for the first round the score was close in the novices between Louise Danbury & Alex O'Dell with an excellent first time effort from Jacob Jenkins, but in the second round Alex put in a excellent score to take the win. The Slalom was won by Paul Preston who still has quite an edge on the others. Alex Allison came 3rd this year closeing the gap on me in 2nd.
Wakeboard was next as the weather began to improve, the juniors was won by Harry Eaton with an excellent display. Adult wakeboard was won by Alex Allison, Paul Preston was a close 2nd and would have won had he landed his raleigh, but instead he felt more than the pain of not winning.
Last was the Kneeboard with Alex O'Dell winning the Juniors with a great display of spins & slides. Adults was won by Liam Dyke who had put together a good set of surface tricks. I did try this myself but its been a long while since I last went on a kneeboard and I was just pleased to manage a jetty start without embarrassingly crashing.
The numbers were down a little on last year but I think the quality was higher. It was a good competition and was fun to enter & watch.
My thanks go to all who helped.
Barry Dyke.

Turps Team Challenge, Gosfield Lakes 3rd October 2010.

This year we again sent a team to Gosfield lakes to try to defend the trophy we won last year. This year we had two new team members who stood in at the last minute due to illness & injury to our usual team members. Our thanks go to our Chairman Andy Warwick and Pete Bews who Joined Will Bews & Barry Dyke in the team.
Unfortunately this year we were not successful with the trophy being won by one of the home clubs teams of young skiers who skied very well in some fairly poor conditions.

Pete & Andy prepare for their first League Competition in the unfamiliar surroundings of Gosfield Lake. Also in the picture is jetty marshal and ex Stewartby member Louise Burrel, often found keeping skiers in order at competitions in the region.
